Early Childhood and Pre-School Programs Nourish Spiritually and Developmentally
Our goal at Trinity is to provide families of the community, church, and school with a safe, educational, Christ–centered Early Childhood experience. We strive to work in partnership with parents who have the primary and most critical role in the nurturing of their child. It is also our intent to help parents strengthen the family unit according to God’s plan and purpose. Our caring and well-trained staff members serve as positive role models and provide care that is supportive, nurturing, and responsive to each child’s individual needs. All staff meet and exceed the TDFPS training standards and are certified in CPR and First Aid. Several of our staff members are Certified Teachers.
Our Early Childhood program is designed to meet the developmental needs of children age six weeks to five years old. We offer full-time and part-time program options, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We are licensed with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) and Accredited through the National Lutheran Schools Association (NLSA). At Trinity we provide daily experiences that enrich and foster each child’s spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. Each day children have opportunities to explore their creative side, develop problem solving skills and strengthen personal interaction skills through hands on experiences. We know each child is a special creation of God. Our programs help them develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self-directed and teacher-directed activities. Daily opportunities for solitary play as well as group activities are offered.
Infants (6 weeks to 11 months by September 1st) - Our loving staff gives our children the love and attention they need. Through High Reach Bright Baby Curriculum we introduce them to activities that stimulate brain development. Language development, offered with the introduction of Baby Signs and American Sign Language (ASL) promotes an earlier start to meaningful communication skills. We encourage them to be active every day, to explore the world around them, and to interact with others through music, books, art, and exercise. As fine and gross motor skills develop, we encourage reaching, grasping, hands-on play, standing and (eventually) walking.
Toddlers (12 months to 24 months by September 1st) - Toddlers need loving attention as they are becoming more mobile and start exploring the world around them. Through the High Reach Toddler Curriculum, we support active learning through hands-on play, create secure connections, and motivate exploration. We work on expanding their self-regulation of emotions, behaviors, attention, and body control.
Using the High Reach "Twos" Curriculum, and theme-based activities, we promote curiosity and encourage our older toddlers to exercise their budding independence. As children exhibit readiness, potty-training is introduced and encouraged. Our toddlers eagerly embrace the world around them as they experience captivating circle times, stimulating sensory opportunities, and dramatic play experiences.
Preschool 2 (2 years by September 1st) - Our Preschool 2 program provides fun, educational activities that will further your child's development. The social skills are still a focus and fostered through teacher led activities and free play in centers. Independence is encouraged as students begin doing things for themselves such as putting away toys, putting on shoes, and following directions. Potty training is a big part of this class and must be mastered before a child can move to the Preschool 3 class. Monthly theme units provide a variety of learning opportunities. Our two-year-olds are learning all about the world around them including colors, shapes, and the letters in their name.
Preschool 3 (3 years by September 1st) - Our Preschool 3 program is designed to ignite a love of learning in your child. In this class, structure is gradually increased through a balance of table activities, learning centers, large group lessons, Spanish lessons, and music lessons. As children's attention span increases, they are able to pursue activities for longer periods of time and to concentrate more fully. Students are working on identifying letters and numbers, exploring basic science units, social studies units, and basic math skills.
Pre-Kindergarten (4 years by September 1st) - Our Pre-Kindergarten Program will prepare your child for Kindergarten. The Houghton Mifflin Pre-K and Macmillian/McGraw Hill Math Connects Curriculum helps students explore needed language arts, math, science, and social studies concepts. The daily schedule includes a balance of teacher directed instruction, large and small group activities, and learning centers. Our Pre-Kindergarteners also enjoy a variety of enrichment activities including Music, Library, Spanish, and Physical Education.
