Stephen Ministry Provides One-To-One
Christian Caregiving
Stephen Ministry at Trinity Downtown is all about caring. This
compassionate ministry equips and deploys Christ-centered women and men
to come alongside others in confidential, one-to-one Christian caring
relationships during a time of crisis, change or other need. Whether a
person is bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced,
unemployed, relocated, or facing some other challenge, a Stephen
Minister is available to care.
Trained care givers that listen and comfort
After undergoing 50 hours of training, a Stephen Minister typically gets
assigned to one care receiver at a time. Stephen Ministers are not
counselors or advisors. Stephen Ministers are trained lay Christian
caregivers who listen, pray, and encourage their care receivers with the
love of our Savior Jesus Christ. Referrals for pastoral counseling or
to a mental health professional may be given as needed or requested by
the care receiver. Stephen Ministers meet twice a month for continuing
education and small group peer supervision. Supervision is conducted in a
way that protects the confidentiality of the care receiver. Currently,
we have 51 trained Stephen Ministers at Trinity Downtown. Trinity’s
Stephen Ministers are ready and willing to serve you in a time of need.
We’re here, even if you just need a friend to listen and care.
