Outreach & Serving Opportunities

Trinity Lutheran Church has served downtown Houston and the greater community for over 130 years. Trinity Downtown reaches out to our community through acts of kindness and service to others in order to share Christ’s saving love with all people now in tangible ways. This may take the form of relief when disaster hits such as a hurricane or a house fire. It may be in a neighborhood park or city street clean up project. Or, it may be one-on-one tutoring and mentoring students needing a boost in their learning process along with many other ways of walking together as good neighbors and brothers and sisters in Christ. For more information on Trinity Downtown’s Community Service and Outreach Opportunities, please contact Trinity’s Missionary to the City, Pastor Aaron Lytle, at Trinity, 713.229.2903, or by email.
Car Care Ministry – This Ministry began as one for single mothers but has since expanded to assisting senior adults and others in need of assistance. Each second Saturday of the month, many volunteers show up to wash cars inside and out, change oil and other basic maintenance, help diagnose car problems and share the love of Jesus with all who come. Free-will donations keep this ministry going. Oil is provided. A new oil filter must be brought for each vehicle. You can join in on the fun and fellowship of this service ministry by calling the church office to get on the Car Care Ministry Team.
Homeless Ministries – Trinity Downtown volunteers distribute sack lunches, consisting of sandwich crackers, Vienna sausages and bottled water, Monday –Friday from 9:00 to 11:30am to all who seek assistance at the church doors. We give out about 115 lunches each day.
Blood Donor Drives – Trinity holds four Blood Donor Sundays a year that are coordinated through the Houston Blood Center which sends a mobile unit to the church. Watch the website for upcoming dates.
Food Pantry Drives – Food Pantry Drives are held throughout the year to help support St Joseph Catholic Church’s food pantry with special drives at Thanksgiving, Christmas and in the spring.
Cradle Cooks – Trinity’s Cradle Cooks prepare and deliver meals to families with newborns for the first several days after mother and baby have come home from the hospital.
