SUNDAY MORNING @ 9:30 AM:
We Three Kings
Bill Fischer • ChapelKing David is crowned! The chapel Class continues their study of Saul, David, and Solomon - three of the strongest kings in all of history. God's love and forgiveness for them are His gifts to us as well. To find our more about these incredible Old Testament kings, join the Chapel Class. This is an ongoing study.
The Book of Acts
Dave Weinhold • Room 205
The 205 Class continues their study of the Book of Acts. As the church spread from Jerusalem to Rome, it was clear that its development was truly the manifestation of Jesus Christ in the lives of the apostles, and so the church continues to spread the Good News today. The Book of Acts records the first-century progress of God's mission to reach everyone everywhere - even in downtown Houston - with the promise of forgiveness and everlasting life in Christ, and it compels us to continue that mission today. This class started on Oct 9, 2011 will end May 27, 2012.
The Word - The Gospel of John
Phyllis Brockermeyer • Room 232
Starting on January 22 and ending on May 13. Some of the Bible's most revered passages are written in the book of John:
* In the beginning was the Word....
* Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
* I am the bread of life... I am the light of the world... I am the resurrection and the life...
* For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Find comfort, strength and inspiration in the Gospel of John. If you've studied these words before, you'll be compelled to read them over and over again, and if you've never been in a Bible study, this is an excellent beginning.
The Fruit of the Spirit
Jim Cleary • Room 211
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. It's quite an order to live out, but with the Spirit's help, we can show the fruit of the Spirit of Chirst in our lives. These Bible studies from Old and New Testament passages highlight each quality and inspire us to nurture the Spirit's fruit in our lives. This class began on January 8 and will run through March 4.
Boundaries with Kids
Pat Cleary & Christina Putman • Room 214
We all want to raise kids who are people of character, who take responsibility for their own actions, attitudes and emotions, and who are thoughtful, faithful, and considerate - easier said than done. This study will help parents instill the kind of character into children that will help them lead balanced, productive, and fulfilling adult lives. Learn how to set limits and still be a loving parent, bring control to an out-of-control family life, apply the ten laws of boundaries to parenting, and define appropriate boundaries and consequences for kids. This study began on January 8 and runs through March 25.
Balanced Living - First Place 4 Health
Dana Stoerkel • Room 206
Sometimes it seems as if life is just out of balance - like the wheels on a car. If you forge ahead without a plan, you may first notice things are a bit shaky. The more you do and the faster you go, the louder and more intense the shaking becomes. Soon, you feel the effects in your home, your family, your job, and your relationships with others and with God. Your quality of life is diminished, and you begin "wearing out." In Balanced Living, you will learn how to regain the balance that God intended for each of us to have in all four areas of our lives: mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual.
This group holds one another in prayer and offers motivation, information, celebration, and inspiration to help each other live healthy lives spiritually and physically.
Upcoming Studies.....
WEEKDAY BIBLE STUDIES:
Financial Peace University
Our next Financial Peace class will begin in the Spring of 2012 with new leaders. Watch this space for more upcoming details.
TUESDAY STUDIES:
The Book of Isaiah
Audrey Black • 10:00 am • Room 124
The Book of Isaiah unveils the full dimensions of God's judgment and His salvation. God is the Holy One of Israel who rains compassion on His People and rescues them from both political and spiritual oppression. When His people are exiled, He makes streams spring up in the desert as He graciously leads them home. The theme of a highway for the return of exiles is a prominent one in both major parts of the book. The Lord raises a banner to summon the nations to bring Israel home.
This study group continues the study of this most significant book of the Old Testament. All women are warmly welcome. This study will end on June 12.
WEDNESDAY STUDIES:
Bible Breakfast - Growing in the Spirit
Suzanne Kurth • 08:00 am • Room 232
Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together... but let us encourage one another... Hebrews 10:24-25
God's words from Hebrews are guiding our study as we seek to grow in the Spirit through close study of His Word and rich fellowship with one another. This study continues through March 7, 2012.
Faithful Familes
Natalia Junkans • 5:30 pm • Room 232
One of the greatest desires we have as parents is to raise children who are faithful to the Father, but how do we do that in our demanding, secular world? This study is for moms and dads who also want to raise godly young men and women. This group strives to be encouraging and to hold each other - as well as our kids - close in prayer. This class is at the same time as FUEL. If you have kids in FUEL, come spend some time with us in the word. This study will run from January 25 to May 13.
The Gospel of Mark
Mary Oliver • 06:30 pm • Room 205
A Women's Bible study, the Gospel of Mark, The earliest gospel describes the character of Jesus as a Servant of God. This gospel begins with the baptism and the life of Jesus in Galilee, continues through the transfiguration, follows Jesus and His disciples from Galilee to Jerusalem, concluding with His entry into that Holy City (chapter 11); the final section is the story of Jesus' passion and addresses the end of time; the final chapter contains the resurrection.
