Welcome to Trinity Lutheran Downtown!
We embrace many styles of worship here at Trinity, because it's not about how we worship, but who we worship. We offer a liturgical service that honors the rich Lutheran heritage many of you have loved for many years with the organ as the primary instrument. We also have a traditional service, which closely resembles the liturgical service but is a little more relaxed, and the music is accompanied by a beautiful orchestra. And last but not least, we offer a laid-back, modern worship service where the band is loud and you can come hungry (we have a complete coffee/pastry bar) wearing your favorite shorts and flip-flops.

Your challenge is to complete this 40-day experience as you spend time with God through His Word and through prayer. You may be wondering why this study is designed to last 40 days. I am so glad you asked! It may surprise you to know how often the number “40” has played an important role in the lives of God’s people throughout history:
• It rained for 40 days and 40 nights when God decided to renew the world and start over.
• Noah waited another 40 days after it rained before he opened a window in the ark.
• Moses was on a mountain with God for 40 days – twice!
• It took the spies 40 days to search out the Promised Land and bring back fruit.
• The Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness, one year for each day they explored the Promised Land.
• Goliath taunted the Israelites for 40 days before being killed by David. God gave the victory after 40 days.
• Ezekiel spent 40 days lying on his side to prepare to prophesy.
• Elijah spent 40 days on Mount Horeb when the Lord passed by and he heard the voice of God.
• Jonah warned the City of Nineveh they had 40 days to be renewed until God would overthrow the city. They repented. • Jesus was taken to the temple 40 days after His birth to be renewed or purified.
• Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness to prepare for public ministry.
• Jesus was seen in the earth for 40 days after His crucifixion.
So you see, the number “40” often plays a pivotal role in the plans of God - and it is no coincidence that you hold a 40-day Bible study journal in your hands right now! God wants to prepare you for the plans He has for your life!
You’ll notice as you progress through the journal that the letters “RE” appear over and over. “RE” is a prefix that simply means “again.” Through this study, you will do “again” what God has called His people to do from the very beginning. You will dedicate 40 days for the purpose of knowing God and His Word in a new way. While we could not include every important story from the Bible in this study, this journal is designed to give you an overview of scripture from Genesis to Revelation.
We are so excited about the next 40 days! We believe God is going to show you things about Himself that will RENEW you! It is time to be a part of what God is doing “again.”
