Trinity Downtown > Blog > Is your Christmas on Autopilot?

[Jesus said] This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

Matthew 15:8. ESV

Here’s how you can participate:
  • Be sure to pick up some Christmas service invitations (available in the Narthex and
Foyer) to invite your friends and neighbors to Trinity’s Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
services, and we invite you to “share” Trinity’s Christmas invitations with your friends
when you see them on your social media feed
  • Poinsettias will adorn our worship area on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Don’t miss
the deadline to honor or memorialize a loved one by donating $10.50 per plant. You
may complete this online form or submit an order form available at the Welcome
Center. The names of the honorees and givers will be shown in the pre-service slides at
all Christmas Eve and Christmas Day worship services. Deadline is Sunday, December
    18th
  • Please note that on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day we will only have one worship
service at 9:00 am, and no Discipleship Hour classes will be held for either adults of
    students
  • You can still turn in your “First Fruit” gifts for our “Magnify” Sanctuary refresh campaign
this Sunday. If you haven’t yet had an opportunity to pledge, you may find a
commitment card as you enter the Sanctuary, or you may record your Magnify pledge
    online here.
  • If you have not yet recorded your 2023 Home Treasury pledge for planned giving next
year, you can find a commitment card as you enter the Sanctuary, or you may use our

Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Downtown:

Christmas is a busy time of year, and it’s easy to be caught up with all the activities. Getting ready for
the office Christmas party, preparing for kids being home from school or college for an extended period,
gift buying, wrapping and travel plans can all conspire together to rob us of the REAL gift of Christmas.
Is your Christmas on auto-pilot this year? Are you just going through the motions, and not taking time
to savor the joy of the greatest Gift ever given to humankind?

As we near the end of this year’s Advent journey, we may be walking along a familiar path, singing
familiar carols and re-reading Scripture passages that we have almost memorized. But perhaps, just
perhaps, if you slow down for just a little bit, you’ll be surprised by some buried treasure that’s just
waiting to be discovered.

This Sunday at Trinity Downtown, we will be coming together in joyful anticipation for the arrival of Our
Lord, and we’ll each have the opportunity to slow down for a while to savor the real treasure of
Christmas.

Come home to Trinity this Sunday; come learn how placing your doubts, suffering, distractions, hopes,
fears, uncertainties in the hands of the Lord can lessen our stress load and bring deep transformation in
our hearts. Celebrate with us the depth of Jesus’ love for us and find out how you can live a life of
significance, filled with meaning. Discover how following Jesus can help you and your family navigate
around the minefields of life. I promise you it will make a tremendous difference in your life.
