Perspective Changes Everything

Trinity Downtown > Blog > Perspective Changes Everything

Do you remember the time(s) in your childhood when you looked up to heaven and promised yourself “I will NEVER make my kid do THAT” or, “I will ALWAYS let my children get [fill in the blank] whenever they want it.” And, of course, surely every kid has whispered under his or her breath “I’ll NEVER make THAT mistake!”

Getting older means that you begin to see life from a different perspective. Decisions that looked quite wise to you when you were 5 would be downright stupid today. Perhaps some of the actions you took as a teenager make you inwardly cringe today. Maybe your evaluation of your parents, your teachers, and your home church’s pastors have softened (or hardened) as you’ve become an adult. Worst of all, you’ve probably found yourself making decisions that are eerily reminiscent of those made by your parents. Ouch.

Perspective makes all the difference in the world.

Now, imagine what life might look like from God’s perspective. When our Heavenly Father looks at our decisions, choices and priorities, you have to wonder how much He winces. He’s certainly given us plenty of guidance; the Old and New Testaments are filled with stories, commands, parables and proverbs meant to show us how we can make wise choices and give us the guidelines that should govern our actions.

This weekend at Trinity Downtown, we’ll be concluding our sermon series on Paul’s letter to the Colossian church. We’ll discuss how we can use God’s perspective to guide our decisions and how the Holy Spirit can energize our minds and our actions. Come celebrate God’s love for us in our contemporary service on Saturday at 5:00 pm, and/or the traditional worship services on Sunday at 8:15 am and 10:50 am. Your kids won’t want to miss our “Kingdom Quest” pre-school and student gatherings, and you’ll enjoy making new friends and learning more about your faith in our expanded array of adult bible study classes, all held at 9:30 am on Sunday.

Come learn how placing our worries, hopes, plans and fears in the hands of Jesus can lessen our stress load and bring deep transformation in our hearts. Celebrate with us the depth of Jesus’ love for us and find out how you can live a life of significance, filled with meaning.  Discover how following Jesus can help you and your family navigate around the minefields of life.

Get a fresh jolt of spiritual energy at Trinity Downtown. It will make a tremendous difference in your life.
