Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Downtown:
Rocket scientist. Police officer. Parent of a toddler. Brain surgeon. Middle school teacher. Parent of an elementary-aged twins. Vaccine developer on a tight timetable. Parent of a teen-age girl.
Can you find the common element in each of these jobs? What deeply connects each role on the list?
Here’s a few that I could find:
It takes decades to design and build rockets, and police officers and teachers labor endlessly on what can sometimes appear to be a never-ending cycle of problems. And while even rocket scientists can call it quits so they can go open a bait stand in Galveston, a parent’s job literally does not end. Patience is not just a virtue, it’s a necessity.
This weekend at Trinity Downtown we’ll be celebrating Father’s Day and discussing parenthood. If you are a parent, thinking about becoming a parent, sometimes wish you WEREN’T a parent, or take care of your aging parents, come find encouragement and wisdom for your journey. Pastor Vince Parks will be bringing the sermon, and here’s a brief overview of what you can expect.
You can participate in-person at our contemporary worship service on Saturday at 5:00 pm or our traditional worship service on Sunday at 9:00 am. Learn more about our worship services below.
Our doors will open 30 minutes before the start of each worship service, and you may enter from any door. As always, we ask that if you are not feeling well, please stay home and participate with us online.
You can watch the “live stream” of our Satellite Service at 5:00 pm on Saturday, or our traditional service on Sunday at 9:00 am by clicking the button below. And, of course, you may also participate by watching either of these services “on demand” at any time. To enhance your worship this weekend, we’ve placed this weekend’s Order of Worship and our updated prayer list below.
Drive-up Communion on Wednesdays and Saturdays will continue to be offered during the summer, with the exception of a “vacation” from June 30th through July 10th.
LEAH’s Downtown Academy’s “Touch a Truck” event last Saturday was a big success. Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment. They intend to hold similar events throughout the summer, so stay tuned!
Tithes and offerings so far this year are behind our budget by an amount roughly equivalent to two week’s worth of “normal” offerings. As summer approaches, it is important for us to bridge this gap so we can prepare for the August 22nd reopening of all of our in-person ministries. Please pray and ask the Lord what He would have you do to help. You can give online by clicking here and selecting the “Summer 2021 catch-up offering” fund option, or mail a check marked “Summer 2021 catch-up” to our office at:

We continue to be deeply thankful for the God-inspired work of our medical professional who developed and are distributing the COVID vaccines, and who continue to care for those afflicted with this disease. We are constantly reviewing our COVID-related safety protocols so that we’re in line with current government regulations and the evolving scientific guidelines. Our guidelines for this weekend’s services will be unchanged from the prior week:
Please take advantage of our nursery, which is now open to care for children 2 years old and younger. On Sunday, we will continue to offer coffee and snacks outside the sanctuary under the porte cochere following the worship service.
Come celebrate the joys of parenthood with us this weekend; come reconnect with Jesus and your church community. Let the joy of the Lord flood your heart and refresh your soul so you can share His love and peace with everyone!
