Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Downtown:

All of us struggle with deciding whether the information we hear is true or not. “Fake news” is rampant, and it is not confined to the political sphere. During the Lenten season, in both our sermons and our daily video devotionals, we are exploring the lies that we are tempted to believe. These lies pull us off course, distract us, and eventually lead us astray.

Perhaps one of the easiest lies for us to believe is that we know what’s best for our lives. We think we know what we want, what we need, and what we must do to satisfy our needs.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Take a moment to look back at your prior life decisions. I suspect you’ll find that, just like me, when I was faced with a fork in the road, I often make the right choice for the wrong reasons, or I simply failed to pick the right path!

Our Creator is keenly aware of our disposition. He surely knows that, in reality, we are totally dependent upon Him for guidance, whether we recognize it or not. So, He promises to “work all things together for good.” Can you remember the times when, in an abundance of grace, God redeemed one of your bad choices?

On this second weekend of the Lenten season come join with the other sinners at Trinity Downtown as we are reminded of how dependent we are on God’s guidance and grace. Come be reminded of the great cost Jesus paid in showering that grace upon us. This weekend, give Him the opportunity to re-position your heart, redeem your circumstances and deepen your recognition that you are totally dependent upon Him for both your salvation and your very life.
