I have LOTS of news to share with you, as well as several opportunities to serve our community. Here goes:
1. As we’ve announced, Matt Meier will be taking a Principal position in a Lutheran school in Rochester, Minnesota later this year. Matt’s last day with us will be Sunday, June 26th. We will have a “come and go” reception for Matt in the Foyer from 10:00 to 11:00 am on the 26th.
2. Matt has been an important part of our ministry for six years. We’ll be providing a place to place a farewell card or financial gift to Matt in the Foyer soon. You may make your checks payable directly to Matt Meier, or if you wish, designate a donation payable to Trinity Downtown with a “Meier Love Offering” notation. You may also give a love offering to Matt online by going here and selecting the “Matt Meier Love Offering” option.
3. With Matt’s departure, I’m pleased to announce that the Governing Board has formed a Call Committee for a “Pastor of Outreach Ministries” position, who will be responsible for coordinating all of Trinity Downtown’s missions and outreach activities. Names of potential candidates may be submitted to Dan Krueger (Call Committee Chairperson) by Sunday, June 26th.
4. The Mission MAT is sponsoring a service day for Orphan Grain Train on Saturday morning, June 11th at Zion Lutheran in Pasadena. Contact Delynda Cruz to join in the fun!
5. Trinity is cooperating with the SEARCH homeless ministry and Gensler Architects in collecting unused prescription eyeglasses, reading glasses and sunglasses to be distributed to those in our community who need vision correction and are unable to afford eyeglasses. You can drop your unused eyeglasses in the receptacle in the Foyer. This Sunday is the last opportunity to participate in this ministry.
6. Starting June 15th, Drive-up Communion will be offered only on Wednesdays from 11:00 – Noon.
I told you…there’s lots going on at Trinity Downtown this summer! Don’t miss the opportunity to serve with Orphan Grain Train or by bringing your unused eyeglasses. You will be blessed by doing so.
