Trinity Update 5.10.24

Trinity Downtown > Blog > Trinity Update 5.10.24
It’s awfully easy to get distracted, isn’t it? Social media, Hollywood and advertisers all strive to steal our attention, and sometimes they can distract us from what we REALLY should be doing.

Jesus gave His followers very explicit mission, a goal that the Evil One is constantly trying to distract us from accomplishing. This weekend at Trinity Downtown, we’ll begin our exploration of the New Testament book of Acts, where Jesus gives us our marching orders!

Come join your fellow-Christians as we learn how to walk in the joys of Easter every day!

Here’s what’s going on this week:

● Don’t forget Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 12th!

Start your summer TOMORROW with a fellowship time at the park! Families with kids 4th grade and under are meeting at Jaycee Park from 4-6pm on Saturday, May 11th. We will have a main course provided by the Calafell’s! There are big fields, a playground with a climbing wall, and a splash pad at the park. Please bring a lawn chair (if you’d like), sunscreen and a change of clothes for your child(ren). Trinity will supply water toys and playground balls.

● On Sunday, May 19th, immediately after the 9:00 am worship service, we’ll be honoring Mary Voigt’s 10 years of service to our church family, AND Trinity will be hosting the Houston Masterworks Chorus with their “Night at the Opera” presentation at 4:00 pm.

Rebecca Castillo will be joining our staff as the new Director of Music and Worship on May 26th. Rebecca has been singing in Trinity’s choir since 2022, and is an accomplished and talented music educator and performer. Check out her website, and welcome her to Trinity when you see her this Sunday!

On May 17th, we’ll be hosting Segundo Barrio Children’s Chorus, Houston’s first and only bilingual children’s choir that transforms lives through tuition-free music education and community based performance opportunities.

On May 18th, the Treble Choir of Houston will be performing their spring concert at 2:00 pm.

LINC-Houston will be hosting their “Come and See” celebration event on Sunday June 9th at 5:00 pm at Trinity. See the attached slide for additional details.

Happy Mother’s Day!
