When Jesus Invites You To Breakfast

Jesus said to [His disciples], “Come and have breakfast.” John 21:12a ESV

Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Downtown:

Only one of Jesus’ biographers relates the story of Jesus inviting His disciples to breakfast. It happened on the shore of the Sea of Galilee after His resurrection, and was (at least) the third time that the disciples had seen the resurrected Jesus up close and personal.

Jesus had some unfinished business with each of them. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof, so Jesus needed to provide the disciples additional reassurance that He was, indeed, risen from the dead. Most importantly, Jesus needed to restore His relationship with Peter after Peter’s public denials that he was a disciple. Jesus went the extra mile to reassure Peter that he still had a vital place in Jesus’ plan, even though Peter clearly didn’t deserve the attention.

Do you have unfinished business with Jesus? Like the disciples, do you have doubts that need to be answered? Can you hear Jesus’ invitation to share a meal with Him? Do you need to hear His words of grace and love? Does your soul need renewal, encouragement or wisdom?

Come to Trinity Downtown this weekend, where you can hear what Jesus has to say to your heart. Come as we celebrate the power of God to transform our hearts and lives. Come, and invite a friend who might need their faith renewed.
