Worship, Grow, Live

Trinity Downtown > Worship, Grow, Live

About

Trinity Downtown is a community of Christians who are mindful of God’s infinite love for us as expressed in the life, teachings, death and resurrection of Jesus. God loved each one of us so much that He gave laws meant to show us the best way to live and sent His Son to rebuild our relationship with God. Because of what Jesus has done for us, we can enjoy a joyful relationship with God and with each other both now and forever.

We hear God calling us to build a church with a web of strong, diverse and resilient relationships of Houstonians who see Trinity Downtown as the center of their relationship with Jesus, as well as the center of their social and cultural lives. We provide a safe and mutually-supportive atmosphere for mature Christians, while intentionally building “on-ramps” for skeptics or those that have not had any exposure to the claims of Christ or have any familiarity with the Bible.

So, succinctly put, Trinity Downtown’s mission is “Joyfully sharing Christ’s saving love with all people, now.”

“Joyfully sharing Christ’s saving love with all people, Now!”

This mission statement gives overall direction for Trinity’s ministry, as we focus on three guiding words: Worship, Grow, Live.

WORSHIP

We actively engage in the Worship experience. As a result, we will:

  • Regularly attend Worship Services
  • Participate in the Sacraments
  • Joyfully give a portion of our income back to God (2 Corinthians 9:7).

Guiding words from Scripture:

Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer (Hebrews 10:25 GNT).

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers….And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts (Acts 2:42,46 ESV).

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7 NKJV).

O Lord, I love the habitation of Your house and the place where Your glory dwells (Psalm 26:8 ESV).

GROW

We will grow in our relationship with God and with one another.  As a result we will:

  • Actively participate with others in a Bible study.
  • Daily spend time with God in prayer, immersing ourselves in God’s Word and personal devotion.

Guiding words from Scripture:

Live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10 NIV).

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it (Joshua 1:8a ESV).

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God(Colossians 3:16 ESV).

LIVE

We will live out our faith, connecting people to Jesus.  As a result, we will:

  • Share our faith with those who make up our circles of influence
  • Serve others, and willingly give of our time using the gifts God has given us
  • Invite people to worship, grow and live their faith as part of a Christian community.
  • Encourage others in their faith, and pray with them
  • Intentionally develop relationships with those who do not have a relationship with Jesus.

Guiding words from Scripture:

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith (Galatians 6:10 ESV).

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself (Luke 10:27 NKJV).

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV)
