From Darkness to Light

Trinity Downtown > Blog > From Darkness to Light

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.

Isaiah 9:2a ESV

Here’s how you can participate:
  • Plan to participate in the special offering benefiting our sack lunch ministry during each service on Sunday, January 29th
  • Drop by the Gym anytime on Sunday morning, grab a sharpie, and personalize the back of one of the new tiles that will be placed in the Sanctuary during our Sanctuary renovation. You can sign the tile with your family’s names, and/or quote your favorite Scripture reference. Tiles will be available in the Gym for personalization from Sunday, January 22nd through Sunday, January 29th
  • Participate in the silent auction for four vintage pews that are in the Gathering Space. The auction will conclude Sunday, February 5th.

Here’s some info you’ll want to know-

    • We will be celebrating Pastor Black’s 90th birthday on January 29th during the Discipleship Hour
    • The Concordia-Texas University choir and instrumentalists will be participating in our worship during the Traditional service on February 5th

The renovation of the Foyer restrooms is progressing, so you may utilize the restrooms on the second floor next to the Chapel, or those adjacent to the LINC entrance on the west side of the campus. When you visit the Gym to personalize a tile, you’ll notice construction material is gathering: lights, tiles, drywall and insulation are all waiting for renovation to begin in the Sanctuary on February 6th!

Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Downtown:

Have you ever been walking through your home in the middle of the night and stubbed your toe on a piece of furniture? Or, perhaps, you stepped on a small but misplaced toy while barefoot. Can you recall the pain?  Can you remember the words that you might have uttered under your breath?

The “root cause” of each of these two problems was simple—we were walking around in the dark. Had you been walking along the same path during daylight, or with the house lights on, you would not have had a problem. But it was dark. And you stumbled.

This Sunday at Trinity Downtown, we’ll be celebrating together the come of the Light of the World. We’ll remember just how precious it is to walk together in the light; to know where we are and where we are going.

Come worship Jesus, our Light, this weekend, and see how you can live a life of significance, filled with meaning.  Discover how following Jesus can help you and your family navigate around the minefields of life. I promise you it will make a tremendous difference in your life.
