Stephen Ministry Provides One-To-One Christian Care Giving

Stephen Ministry at Trinity Downtown is all about caring. This compassionate ministry equips and deploys Christ-centered women and men to come alongside others in confidential, one-to-one Christian caring relationships during a time of crisis, change or other need. Trinity’s Stephen Ministers are ready and willing to serve you in a time of need. We’re here, even if you just need a friend to listen and care. Trinity Downtown is a Lutheran Church in Downtown Houston. The church was first established in 1879 and we have been growing ever since.

Trained care-givers that listen and comfort

After undergoing 50 hours of training, a Stephen Minister typically gets assigned to one care receiver at a time. Stephen Ministers are not counselors or advisers; rather, they serve as trained lay Christian caregivers who listen, pray, and encourage their care receivers with the love of Jesus.

You may benefit from the care of a Stephen Minister if you are in the midst of one or more of the following situations:

Being hospitalized or recovering from surgery or illness
Terminally ill and their families
Moving in or out of the Houston area
Grieving a death or serious loss
Experiencing a job crisis
Recently separated or divorced
Difficult pregnancy, birth, or adoption
Experiencing a spiritual crisis
Needing the support of a Christian friend
