Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Downtown:

I heard a news story this week about the latest findings from a scientific survey focused on the deepest parts of the Pacific ocean. Despite the crushing pressure of thousands of feet of water that is above them, the deep ocean is full of life. What does NOT exist that deep in the ocean is light; it does not penetrate that far down. So, the fish that live that deep live in perpetual darkness.

EXCEPT, God has equipped the majority of the fish with organs that generate a bit of light on their own. These photo-luminescent fish have just enough light to find prey or navigate.

Can you imagine living in a world where you must manufacture your own light?

Jesus told us that HE is the light of the world. This is true both physically and metaphorically. HE manufactured the sun; we see the physical world because He of His creative action. Scripture tells us that Jesus is also the source of our spiritual light; we see and understand God’s law and love for us only because He made it so.

Like the Moon reflects the sun’s light back down to earth, Jesus assigned His church to reflect His spiritual light to our family and community. In fact, He promised that we simply would not be able to prevent that light from leaking out from our hearts.

This Sunday at Trinity Downtown, we’ll be exploring how God’s light brings wisdom, blessing and truth into our lives.  Come worship Jesus, our Light, this weekend, and see how you can live a life of significance, filled with meaning.  Discover how following Jesus can help you and your family navigate around the minefields of life. I promise you it will make a tremendous difference in your life.
