Seeing God work in our lives

Trinity Downtown > Blog > Seeing God work in our lives

[Jesus said] “For judgement I came into this world, that those who do NOT see may see, and those who see may become blind.”

John 9:39 ESV

Here’s how you can participate:
  • Give a love offering to the family of Ron Pless, who unexpectedly passed away earlier this week. Ron worked as a custodian at Trinity under Carris Richard’s direction for many years. If you’d like to help with Ron’s funeral expenses, you may make your check payable to Trinity Downtown and designate it to the “Ron Pless fund”. You may also give online to the category “Ron Pless fund”
  • Watch your email for links to our daily Lenten devotional videos. A new video will be available each Monday-Saturday of Lenten season
  • Purchase an Easter lily for $12.50 each by going online or signing up at the table near the Gym entrance
  • Get your ticket for the Christian Seder meal with Holy Communion being held on Thursday evening, April 6th at 6:30pm.  Tickets will be available in the Gathering Space on Sunday. Tickets are complementary, with a suggested free-will donation of $25 to cover the cost of catering by Treebeards, which you may give on the evening of the event. Registration is complementary.
  • Buy a discounted ticket to the Casulana Women’s Choir of Houston concert. The program titled “Seasons” will be held at Trinity on Sunday, March 26th at 3:00 pm in the Sanctuary. Trinity members may buy tickets in advance for $10 (50% discount) at the table immediately in front of the Gym entrance to the Gathering Space
  • Use the attached invitation to invite your friends and family to Trinity’s Easter Festival worship services on April 9th
Here’s some info you’ll want to know-
  • You may see the online worship folder by clicking here, or by scanning the QR code with your smartphone at the table nearest to the Gym entrance from the Gathering Space
  • The Sanctuary remains closed for renovation, so we’ll continue meeting for worship in the Gym. Service time is unchanged, and the service will be video-streamed as usual. Armchairs will be sprinkled throughout the Gym’s seating area for those that might need them
  • Check out the online time-lapse camera in the Sanctuary that is capturing the renovation as it occurs!
  • Thank you to those that donated 16 units of blood last Sunday!

Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Downtown:

What do you see when you look at the image above? A loving Jesus ready to heal? A humble blind man, asking for a miracle? I see the same thing. Now, look in the background. Do you see the Pharisees, who are cynically judging the whole event?

The posture of the blind man and the Pharisees is contrasted here. One posture leads to faith and worship in Jesus as Lord of all, and the other leads to a judgement of spiritual blindness. The sole purpose of the revelation of Jesus as the Son of Man is to expose the true sin of the self-righteousness of man, and to bring us to a dependent faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior who saves us from our sin.

On this fourth Sunday of the Lenten season come join with the other sinners at Trinity Downtown as we come together to worship our gracious God in a spirit of humility and openness. Come be reminded of how dependent we are on God’s guidance and grace and recall the great cost Jesus paid in showering that grace upon us. This weekend, give Him the opportunity to re-position your heart, redeem your circumstances and deepen your recognition that you are totally dependent upon Him for both your salvation and your very life.
