The Face of God

Trinity Downtown > Blog > The Face of God

And as [Jesus] was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. Luke 9:29 ESV

Be sure to put our March 2nd Ash Wednesday services at Noon and 6:30 pm on your calendar.

Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Downtown:

Do you remember the Dark Ages? Those times in the distant past when we had to unlock our smartphone using a fingerprint, or, even worse, a 4 digit PIN? One wonders how we all survived those difficult times!

Who knew that our faces were so unique that a smartphone camera could consistently distinguish between them? Just think of the variety of faces…different skin tones, eyes lashes, cheek prominence, mouth placement. The list is endless. Combined together, it means our faces are as unique as our fingerprints. Our faces don’t lie.

Even our pets sense the importance of our faces. Our dogs watch every move we make to see if there may be a treat coming, or calculate the chances of going out for a walk. But they pay special attention to our faces. It’s from our face that our pets can get the clearest sense what’s going on inside our heads. Our faces don’t lie.

What do you think it would be like to gaze into the face of God Himself? What would you see there? What would His eyes say when they turned toward you?

This Sunday at Trinity Downtown, we’ll explore the time when some of Jesus’ disciples saw what Jesus’ heavenly body looked like, and how it changed them. Come find out what God’s face is saying to you.

Thank you to those that contributed to the love offering for Mr. Carris Richards. He wanted me to express his deep gratitude to the congregation for your generosity, concern and continued prayers, and reports that his financial need has been abundantly met.

COVID-19 Updates

We continue to be deeply thankful for the God-inspired work of our medical professionals who developed and are distributing the COVID vaccines, and who continue to care for those afflicted with this disease. Please keep the members of our congregation who serve in these capacities in your daily prayers that God may grant them strength, courage and a robust immune system.
