When Listening Well Can Save Your Life

Tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 pm, Pastor Finke will lead the Stephen Ministry in one of their semi-monthly continuing education sessions. He’ll be talking about “active listening” — how we can learn to listen more attentively to what our family, friends and co-workers are REALLY saying. Oftentimes, body language, tone, and what is NOT being said can tell us more about what’s going on the hearts and lives of our friends than just the words they say. These techniques are especially helpful when we are building new friendships or gently sharing our faith to those that the Lord has put in our path. You are welcome to join Pastor Finke’s short class tonight on active listening starting at 7:00 pm by using these Zoom credentials.

“Active listening” is helpful in any relationship, including our relationship with God. I have a disturbing habit of always tell the Lord what’s going on in my life (as if He didn’t already know), asking Him for solve my problems (that He already knows about), but NOT stopping my prayer to listen to what the Holy Spirit might be whispering to my heart. Jesus tells us that He is the Ideal Shepherd who leads us to an abundant life…but we must periodically pause so we can hear His instructions.
