Here’s how you can participate:
  • Hear a preview of one of this Sunday’s hymns Oh, That the Lord Would Guide My Ways” that will be sung at the Traditional worship service, and one of the praise songs that will be sung at our Contemporary service.
  • Mark your calendars for Trinity’s Fall Kickoff on Sunday, August 28th. We’ll be blessing our students as they re-enter school (along with their backpacks!) and enjoy picnic fare from the Holy Smokers. Plan your schedule now so you can participate!
  • Our community is experiencing another COVID surge. We continue to be deeply thankful for the God-inspired work of our medical professionals who continue to care for those afflicted with this disease. If you are feeling ill, please take advantage of the online worship opportunities that Trinity offers.

Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Downtown:

I don’t play the lotto, but let’s say that a friend gifted me a lottery ticket, and I won $250 million. How do you think my family’s life would change? New house? Several new houses? A corporate jet to transport me between my new houses? Just think of the possibilities (and the challenges)! Life would never be the same.

But let’s say that I simply ignored the extra zeroes in my bank balance and went on without really thinking about the opportunities that winning a lottery provide. Granted, I see how the lives of some of my fellow lottery-winners have been revolutionized, and I occasionally recall the day when I was notified of my new wealth. But, in general, my life goes on…unchanged.

Crazy, huh?

If you’ve been baptized, you’ve experienced a life-altering event even more dramatic that winning $250 million in a lotto, an event that has the power to radically change the trajectory of your life. This Sunday, we’ll be continuing our summer sermon series focusing on the New Testament book of Colossians. The writer, Paul, urges the Colossians to remember they “won the lottery” when they were baptized, and they could begin to really live in the new way that both honors Jesus and brings them great joy.

Come join together with fellow lottery winners this Sunday at Trinity Downtown as we continue our study of Colossians. Come learn how placing your suffering, distractions, hopes, fears, uncertainties and doubts in the hands of the Lord can lessen our stress load and bring deep transformation in our hearts. Celebrate with us the depth of Jesus’ love for us and find out how you can live a life of significance, filled with meaning.  Discover how following Jesus can help you and your family navigate around the minefields of life. I promise you it will make a tremendous difference in your life.

An Update on Pastor Black

Pastor Black was hospitalized last week with both a COVID and a salmonella infection. While he remains hospitalized, we are grateful that his condition continues to improve. I’ve attached a hand-written note from Pastor Black’s family with some additional details. I’m sure they would appreciate your continued prayers for his medical team, asking for wisdom on the next steps in his treatment plan, and for a complete recovery. If you’d like to send a get-well card to Pastor Black and Audrey, you can address it to their home at:
